Your trust matters deeply to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you hold as a user of Mutqin.

1. Overview
Mutqin ("we", "our", "us") is a personal Qur'an memorisation tracker. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy governs all data collected when you use our web application.
By creating an account or using the service you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you disagree with any part, please discontinue use of the service.
2. Data We Collect
We do not collect sensitive data such as biometric information, financial records, or precise location data.
Account Information
When you register, we collect your display name, email address, and an encrypted password (handled entirely by Firebase Authentication — we never see your raw password).
Memorisation Data
Session logs you record (surahs memorised, hizb progress, revision notes, daily goals) are stored in Firestore under your user ID.
Usage Data
We may collect anonymous analytics (feature usage, error logs) through Firebase Analytics to improve the product. This data is never linked to personally identifiable information.
Device & Technical Data
Browser type, OS version, and IP address may be logged automatically by Firebase infrastructure for security and debugging purposes. We do not store these logs ourselves.
Push Notification Token (Mutqin Wird only)
If you enable push notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) generates a device token that is stored under your user ID in Firestore. This token is used solely to deliver revision reminders to your device. It is never used for advertising and is deleted automatically when you revoke notification permission or delete your account.
Cookies & Similar Technologies
Firebase Authentication and Firebase Analytics set session cookies and similar identifiers in your browser to keep you signed in and to collect anonymous usage statistics. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used.
Kuttab School Data (Mutqin Kuttab only)
Mutqin Kuttab is a school management tool used by authorised administrators (admins) and teachers (faqihs). When an admin registers a school, student records — including student names and memorisation progress — may be entered by the admin or faqih on behalf of the school. Mutqin acts as a data processor for this information; the school admin is the data controller responsible for ensuring appropriate consent and lawful basis for processing student data. We do not use student records for any purpose other than operating the Kuttab service for that school.
3. How We Use Your Data

We will never use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share your Hifz records with anyone other than you.
4. Data Storage & Retention
All data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), residing in Google Cloud data centres. Google's infrastructure is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data and memorisation records are permanently erased within 30 days. Anonymous analytics data may be retained for up to 14 months as per Firebase defaults.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
Access
Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
Correction
Update your name or email directly in the app settings.
Deletion
Delete your account and all associated data at any time.
Portability
Export your Hifz records in a machine-readable format on request.
Objection
Opt out of non-essential analytics at any time via settings.
Restriction
Request that we limit processing of your data.
Account & Data Deletion Request
To delete your Mutqin account and all associated Hifz records, please follow these steps:
- → In-App: Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This is the fastest way and happens instantly.
- → Via Web: If you have uninstalled the app, please email us at contact@mutqinapp.com with the subject "Account Deletion Request".
What happens next: Once your request is processed, we will permanently erase your name, email, and all Quranic progress data from our servers within 30 days. This action is irreversible.

7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, Firestore security rules, and Firebase Authentication's built-in credential hashing. No system is 100% secure; if you suspect unauthorised access to your account, change your password immediately and contact us.
8. Children's Privacy
Mutqin Wird is intended for users aged 13 and above. Wird does not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts directly. If you believe a child under 13 has registered an account on Wird without parental consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
Mutqin Kuttab is a school management platform used by adult administrators and teachers (faqihs). Kuttab does not provide student-facing accounts — students under 13 do not register or log in directly. Any student data entered into Kuttab is done so by the school admin on behalf of the school, and the school admin is responsible for obtaining any required parental or guardian consent in accordance with applicable law. Mutqin processes such data solely to operate the Kuttab service.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you via email or an in-app banner. Continued use of Mutqin after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
