1. Overview
Mutqin ("we", "our", "us") is a personal Qur'an memorisation tracker. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy governs all data collected when you use our web application.
By creating an account or using the service you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you disagree with any part, please discontinue use of the service.
2. Data We Collect
We do not collect sensitive data such as biometric information, financial records, or precise location data.
Account Information
When you register, we collect your display name, email address, and an encrypted password (handled entirely by Firebase Authentication — we never see your raw password).
Memorisation Data
Session logs you record (surahs memorised, hizb progress, revision notes, daily goals) are stored in Firestore under your user ID.
Usage Data
We may collect anonymous analytics (feature usage, error logs) through Firebase Analytics to improve the product. This data is never linked to personally identifiable information.
Device & Technical Data
Browser type, OS version, and IP address may be logged automatically by Firebase infrastructure for security and debugging purposes. We do not store these logs ourselves.
3. How We Use Your Data

We will never use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share your Hifz records with anyone other than you.
4. Data Storage & Retention
All data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), residing in Google Cloud data centres. Google's infrastructure is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data and memorisation records are permanently erased within 30 days. Anonymous analytics data may be retained for up to 14 months as per Firebase defaults.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
Access
Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
Correction
Update your name or email directly in the app settings.
Deletion
Delete your account and all associated data at any time.
Portability
Export your Hifz records in a machine-readable format on request.
Objection
Opt out of non-essential analytics at any time via settings.
Restriction
Request that we limit processing of your data.
Account & Data Deletion Request
To delete your Mutqin account and all associated Hifz records, please follow these steps:
- → In-App: Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This is the fastest way and happens instantly.
- → Via Web: If you have uninstalled the app, please email us at mutqinsupport@gmail.com with the subject "Account Deletion Request".
What happens next: Once your request is processed, we will permanently erase your name, email, and all Quranic progress data from our servers within 30 days. This action is irreversible.

7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, Firestore security rules, and Firebase Authentication's built-in credential hashing. No system is 100% secure; if you suspect unauthorised access to your account, change your password immediately and contact us.
8. Children's Privacy
Mutqin is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you via email or an in-app banner. Continued use of Mutqin after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
